June 22nd

Guest: Terri Cheney - the author of the New York Times best selling memoir, Manic. Terri and I will talk about her eloquent and unflinchingly honest book as well as the art of writing a successful memoir.

June 1st

The first listener call-in show was quite a success. The lines were busy even before the show started! I think you will enjoy the variety of questions. My co-host, Avi, and I also discussed tips for managing anxiety. Many listeners wrote and said they loved the show. I think it is comforting to hear the voices of people who share an interest in mental health. We will have to do this again!

May 25th
Guest: Randi Kreger. I'm so excited to interivew Randi. She's the bestselling author of Stop Walking on Eggshells: Taking Your Life Back When Someone You Love Has Borderline Personality Disorder. BPD is such a difficult disorder to understand. I know that Randi will answer our questions and give us ideas on how we can end the stigma around the illness and ultimately show people who love someone with BPD how to get the help they need.
Please note- this show will be available on Friday.

May 11th
Topic: Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Disorders with Dr. Ajit Jetmalani. Dr. Jetmalani is the director of training at the Oregon Health Sciences University in the division of child and adolescent psychiatrity. Did you know that child psychiatrists must attend two extra years of school - on top of their regular psychiatric training in order to work with kids? Me neither! Dr. Jetmalani and I talked about the field in general and then got specific on the differences between ADHD, OCD, Depression, Bipolar Disorder and much more in regards to children. The interview went by way too quickly, but we covered a lot. I hope to have him on the show again soon.

April 20th
Dr. John Preston: Psychiatric medications 101. Join Dr. Preston and myself as we break down psych meds into easy to understand categories. If you would like to know the differences between antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, anti anxiety meds and more, this is the show for you. Dr. Preston is one of the top psychopharmacology experts in the world. In other words, he knows his meds. You may also know him as my coauthor! Johnís works include: The Complete Idiotís Guide to Managing Your Moods, You Can Beat Depression, Clinical Psychopharmacology Made Ridiculously Simple, Handbook of Clinical Psychopharmacology and The Medical treatment of Bipolar Disorder - available only on bipolarhappens.com.

April 13th
Parents of Children with a Mental Illness: I spoke with Don Moore about his daughter Tracy. This was a beautiful show- a tribute to how wonderful Tracy is and a honest conversation with Don on how hard it is to have a child with a mental illness. I know that everyone who is interested in mental health will learn so much from this interview.

April 6th
Finally! An explanation and conversation about Multiple Personality Disorder from an expert who lives with the illness. My guest, Lani Button remembers her first personality split from before age two. When I first heard her stories, I thought- no way- this has to be fake- and yet itís not. MPD, now called Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) is a well documented disorder that is often in response to extreme trauma. Join me as I talk and share a few jokes with Lani about DID. And of course, we will talk about Sybil!

March 23rd
What is mania? Andy Behrman discusses his life and the story behind his best selling book Electroboy.

For years Andy Behrman hid his raging mania under a larger-than-life personality. He sought a high wherever he could find one, and changed jobs as some people change outfits - - filmmaker, art dealer, hustler; whatever made him feel like a cartoon character, invincible and bright. But as we know, what goes up - must come down. Tune in on March 23rd to hear Andyís amazing story - live. If you have a question for Andy, please send an email below and we may read it on the air.

Please note that this book has adult content.

March 16th
